The Little Blue Hen

Appliqué – securing one piece of fabric onto another using hand or machine stitch is used to make this attractive piece. Hilary Jane Cheshire, a well-known textile artist and quilter, is encouraging us and has kindly offered this project to our group.  Full instructions and a link to her website will be supplied to members.

‘Things with Wings’ Challenge – Decorate a tote bag.

Hannah Thompson, from Stitching Kitchen, Brackley, has supplied the group with calico bags. These are free for members and can be decorated and embellished – using paint, print, stencil, hand stitch, applique and machine embroidery with a ‘Things with Wings’ theme eg bees,  bats, birds, butterflies, angels, fairies etc. An independent textile artist will judge the bags and present a book voucher to the winner on National Day of Stitch on 19 June.

Aspire to Stitch, the Textile Study Group, is currently researching Indian embroidery and techniques.
