Georgian Embroidery and Costume a talk by Alison Larkin

This talk is an exploration of the embroidery of the Georgian period and how it was used in costume for men and women: this was the beginning of "fashion".  Styles of dress changed dramatically during the era, going from wide skirts and elaborate men's dress, to the simplicity of the Empire line, then back towards the wider skirts of the Victorian period.
Alison will be showing images of Georgian costume and embroidery, as well as bringing examples of reproduction pieces.
