morning session will be voluntary member-led workshops or members may
bring their own work, (10.30 - 12.30), followed by a break for lunch. The formal meeting and talk will start at 2pm.

Jenny is a member of the British Button Society and has been collecting and
researching for over 30 years. Her talk is
illustrated with powerpoint and she will bring a display of her buttons.

|Georgian Embroidery and Costume a talk by Alison Larkin|
talk is an exploration of the embroidery of the Georgian period and how
it was used in costume for men and women: this was the beginning of
"fashion". Styles of dress changed dramatically during the era, going
from wide skirts and elaborate men's dress, to the simplicity of the
Empire line, then back towards the wider skirts of the Victorian period.
Alison will be showing images of Georgian costume and embroidery, as well as bringing examples of reproduction pieces.

This is an opportunity to see the
first public display of 17th century embroideries from this
collection together with examples from the Ashmolean’s own holdings.

A Gnome's Story a talk by Marion Anniss
Gnome is a 3D soft sculpture 30cm
high with articulated head, legs and arms. He was made for a City and
Guilds unit of work (3D functional item) and this talk expains the
processes completed from joke to reality.
