' Australian Forest Fire'
EG Member's competition 2013
Bronwyn Fleming has won a prize, again, in this year's Embroiderer's Guild member's competition based on Birds. Bronwyn's machine embroidery was based on the imaginary Fire Bird. The piece won the Christine Risley prize for machine embroidery.
EG Member's competition 2011
Last year Bronwyn created a piece of work based on Margaret Nicholson's Embroiderers' Guild Visitor's book. She made a 3D hand and machine embroidered doll inspired by Russian 'Babushka' dolls and portraits painted by artist Gustav Klimt, a favorite artist of Margaret's. The piece included kantha stitching, couched gold threads, layered silk, chiffon and sheers with hand stitched 3D flowers.
The doll won the Julia Capara prize for use of colour.
