This month we had a super day learning about new skills and techniques. In the morning branch member Mary Paulger demonstrated how to make Dorset Buttons. She had made a wide variety of buttons to show us in a number of different sizes and talked briefly about the history of these beautiful embroidered pieces. We all then set about making our own, we all enjoyed learning a new skill and having a chance to sew whilst catching up with our friends.
In the afternoon Ruth Brown author of "Cyanotyping on Fabric" and "Digital Printing on Fabric", gave us an amusing and very interesting talk about her journey in textiles, her current work and teaching and where she would like to develop her textile work in the future. She demonstrated printing on fabric with an ink jet printer and was very generous with her tips and techniques for a successful outcome.
