21st January 2012 Antonia Stanford - Hand Puppets Inspired by Street Furniture

How Toni developed adult-sized hand puppets using the main road that she lives on as inspiration.
 

18th February 2012 Beryl Slade - Seamless Weaving

A mini workshop in which you will make a small receptacle using a technique that requires no seams (a short requirements list will be provided). 


17th March 2012 Janet Taylor - The world of the Luttrell Psalter

A glimpse into medieval life and how a medieval manuscript inspired the members Lincoln Bailgate branch of the EG. 


21st April 2012 Sue Rangeley - Embroidered Originals, Wearable Art

Sue’s exotic water lily caught the eye of fashion designer Bill Gibb in the late 1970s and took her to the couture catwalk for bespoke bridal and evening wear. Sue will be featuring her new work, including samples. 


19th May 2012 Jane Smith - Traditional Japanese Embroidery

Jane, tutor and student of traditional Japanese embroidery will speak about her introduction to, and passion for, this 1600 year old art form, covering the history and techniques from the beginning to the modern day using slides and examples of antique and modern embroidery, and her own designs and work. 


16th June 2012 Alysn Midgelow-Marsden

Our local Internationally known Textile Artist and owner of the Beetroot Tree will give us an insight into her work. 


21st July 2012

Members’ Day – to be arranged Suggestions accepted for either a workshop (maybe something inspired by one of our speakers, a technique such as batik,) or even a day out to a museum etc. 


15th September 2012 AGM followed by Peggy Fearne - Bags Galore!

Peggy will cover a brief history of bags and purses, historical bags from the Sheffield Galleries collection and finally her own sumptuous bags with details of the making process of some of them. 


20th October 2012 Louise West - 'Linen to Lace, Cotton to Concrete and beyond'

A brief history of lace and then Louise’s explorations. Louise has featured on the BBC East Midlands 


October 27th /28th 2012 Jenny Adin-Christy Weekend Workshop - Sweety Bags

A contemporary slant on the traditional Elizabethan ‘Sweety Bags’. Numbers are limited to 12. The ‘Sweety Bag’ is approx. 7 x 7 cm 


17th November 2012  Christmas Lunch (12.00pm) followed by Jenny Swindells - A History of Buttons

Since 1974 Jenny has been collecting and researching buttons. Jenny’s talk is illustrated and she brings a display of her buttons.
