January 19th.         Sandra Jenkins          'Design Sources for Embroidery' 
                                                                             (from inspiration, experimentation to production)

February 16th.        Francesca Holmes      'Stitch and Heat Exploration'.



An interactive talk about using stitch, heat and burning with Vilene fabrics.  Fran will demonstrate her production of wonderful things.             
          







March 16th.           Pam Keeling       'Rebecca Crompton    Derby's Embroiderer of note'.

                                      Rebecca was born in Chellaston and became one of Derby's leading 
 embroiderers in the 1920s and 30s.  Pam will talk about the life, work 
 and influence on embroidery  of Rebecca Crompton then and today.









April 13th.    An in house workshop. Create a plastic canvas-work animal or bird to carry a small bite-sized Easter egg.


May 18th.              Gilli Theokritoff           'Hitomezashi'
                                                                Sashiko with a difference.  A hand stitching afternoon. Bring along your                                                                         sewing kit.

June 15th.             Fran Buxton                   'Perfection in Imperfection'.


Fran works with mixed media textiles to explore imperfection and the overlooked.  Responding to her own photographs of surface pattern, she balances found treasures, textures and layers of tactile stitch.


July 20th               Linda Miller                    'In Stitches'.

Linda's talk covers her work, the joys of practising textile art, working with shops and galleries, gaining commissions, and entering work in shows and exhibitions.  We will see images of her machine embroideries, whose naivite and charm will captivate.


September 21st                AGM


October 19th         Ruth Singer                    'Hidden Histories'   Textiles with narratives.

Ruth's work includes artist' residencies and projects with museums, archives and historic buildings.  She will discuss her Criminal Quilts project about Victorian and Edwardian woman criminals and the exhibitions Narrative Threads and Emotional Repair.  She works with hand stitching, quilting and print techniques.


November 16th       Christmas Lunch to be pre-booked.  Meet at 11.45 for lunch at 12.00.
