“MADE IN DERBYSHIRE” PANELS, CHESTERFIELD LIBRARY

OPENED THURSDAY 8th OCTOBER 2015

Members of Ashbourne, Chesterfield, Derby and Trent & Erewash Branches of the Embroiderers’ Guild have been working with Matt Black, former Derbyshire Poet Laureate, and Paula Moss, Photographer and Digital Artist, to create four stunning textile panels depicting life in all its diversity in Derbyshire. Each panel illustrated features in Derbyshire and included people, places, events, and products together with words collected from people in Derbyshire.

A number of Ashbourne embroiderers stitched and embellished elements (see below) of the first panel “New Brick” (above far left) which incorporated a traditional recipe for Bakewell Pudding weaving its way through the panel.
