Regional Day 2017

Sunday May 14th 2017

Doors Open 10.0am - Welcome at 11.00am

Afternoon Lecture 2.30 pm

Tea and Cakes at end of day 4pm

For the last few years we have held our Regional Day at The Becket School, West Bridgford, Nottingham; this is a venue central to the Region providing good space and on-site Parking.

We were, for the first time in 2017, able to utilize the whole of the Atrium in the Becket School, and the extra space was filled with Displays - see list to right..

A few more members volunteered to offer Taster Sessions with a range of techniques during the lunch hour; so more to see and do than last year.

The Madeira Lecture in the afternoon at 2.30 by Cathryn Walton

"Hidden Lives - Leek's Extraordinary Embroiderers"

proved to be an interesting and informative insight into the Lives of the Women who produced the amazing Leek Embroidery.

REGIONAL STALL

The Book Stall will return: This helps raise funds for the Region and keep Capitation Fees at a low level. All books will be sold at £2.00 each

This raised a total of £343.35 but could increase as we are still trying to sell the surplus books and magazines.

SONIA'S STALL

Sonia Clayton, beloved friend, fellow embroiderer and recent Regional Treasurer, died on New Years Day, 2017. It was her wish that her sewing things be sold and the money raised sent to Hayward House Hospice where she spent 5 weeks or so just before she died. Her embroidery and sewing materials are to be sold at EM Regional Day to raise money for Hayward House Hospice.

This stall raised a total of £1102.00
