Capability Brown Project

We asked our members to make small trees, 10 cm by 6 cm which could be stitched onto the background. They could make them in any style that they chose. We wanted to show the diversity of embroidery and textiles. Barbara and Beryl stitched the 28 trees onto a white background for us. Here is our branch entry for the exhibition at Clumber Park in April 2016.

Seven of our members made individual entries for the exhibition. Unfortunately, Clumber Park where we were exhibiting has little or no connection with Capability Brown. All the works were either inspired by the extensive Clumber Park grounds and gardens or inspired by stately gardens in general.

Here are some of our exhibits.

Ann was inspired by the lake and created "Path to the Lake".Sue's "Clumber Pear Tree" uses the fruit trees in the Walled Kitchen Gardens for the starting point.

Clumber Park has many trees. Barbara created her "Copper Beech" to celebrate the trees in Clumber Park.Yolande's "Autumn Colours" is inspired by the flower beds in the Walled Kitchen Gardens"
