Festival of Stitch 2012

Clara Sims, Chair of the branch writes:

Things did not bode well for the Festival of Stitch this year when we awoke to driving rain and bitterly cold winds.

However this did not stop the intrepid members of the East Midlands Region, who turned out for what turned out to be an extremely enjoyable day of retail therapy, home-made cakes and an interesting lecture by James Hunting. As usual it is an opportunity for our members to meet old friends and make new ones.

Another highlight of the day was the Finest Stitches exhibition from Head Quarters. It was wonderful to see so many beautiful pieces close up.

Christine Poole gave the Chairman's report, which laid out some of the areas where the guild is moving forward and making progress.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone at Daventry and District branch who all contributed to make the day a success. A special thank you to the Festival committee for working tirelessly, since that fateful day two years ago when Sue Fowler and myself offered to take on the task!

I would also like to give a special mention to members of Northampton Branch who were a huge help both on the day, and in their contributions.

I hope everyone enjoyed themselves, and we look forward to the next one!
